Housed within the Monumental Complex of San Domenico, in the heart of Nicastro’s historic center, the Lamezia Archaeological Museum represents one of the main cultural sites of Lamezia Terme and preserves the historical memory of the entire territory of the Plain of Sant’Eufemia. The museum is located in the spaces of the former Dominican convent, a building of great historical and architectural value that contributes to making the visit even more evocative.

The exhibition route brings together hundreds of artifacts from archaeological excavations carried out in the Lamezia area and surrounding territories, offering a journey through thousands of years of history, from Prehistory to the Middle Ages. The collection allows visitors to understand the evolution of the populations that inhabited this part of Calabria, recounting customs, trade, cults, and transformations of the territory over the centuries.

The museum’s layout is divided into three major thematic sections: Prehistory, Classical Age, and Middle Ages. Among the most significant artifacts are lithic tools, ceramics, coins, votive objects, and evidence from the ancient Magna Graecia city of Terina, an important Greek colony founded in the 5th century BC and known in antiquity for its trade and refined artistic production.
